I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has over 10 years of experience specializing in individual psychotherapy. I have been working within the broader field of mental health for over 17 years. I hold a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Oakland University and a Masters degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University where I graduated with honors. I am currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are anxiety, grief and loss, depression, women's issues, interpersonal relationship problems, and trauma including post-traumatic stress disorder. I have a particular interest in working with anxiety disorders.
My philosophy is to support individuals in the process of developing healthy empowered ways of healing through self-discovery and growth. In the process of empowerment, individuals can reach potentials and lead happy, joyful lives, free from emotional pain and fear. I believe this can happen when a safe environment to explore, without judgement exists. I truely believe every person has value and deserves overall life satisfaction.
In my wellness practice, I assist people in recognizing, understanding and learning to manage negative thought patterns. My approach to treatment focuses on the person as a unique individual and treatment is tailored to be highly personalized. In working together, we can explore your current situation, assess the problem areas and develop new ways of coping through your life challenges. I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach with a solution based focus model which provides practical and effective symptom reducing techniques. I find that results are seen quickly and the work of true healing begins.
I can also provide clinical supervision to limited license counseling practioners. I believe in a personalized and comprehensive supervision with the duration and frequency tailored to the clinician's needs.
